Pushing Daisies

Did anyone see the first episode of the hit US series Pushing Daisies?  If you did, and liked it enough to want to continue watching the series you may be in for a disappointment next week.

You will still see an episode of the series, but it will be episode three and not episode two as expected.  ITV, who bought the rights to show the nine part series have only got eight slots available before Euro 2008 begins.  Therefore they will skip episode two and go straight to episode three.

Strangely, ITV blamed the mix-up on the US writers’ strike, which meant only nine episodes of Pushing Daisies were made. This does not explain why they scheduled a nine episode series when they only had eight slots available.

A spokesman did say viewers will get to see the second episode as it is bound to be repeated at some point.  I just hope they don’t schedule it into an eight episode slot again as they say episode two is the only episode they can cut.

Of course, nobody at ITV has answered the question “Why didn’t you start the series a week earlier?”

If current TV Schedulers’ can’t work out that nine episodes won’t go into eight weekly slots I think it’s time they were replaced.  Preferably with someone who took basic maths at school.

Not that a missing episode will stop me watching it.  Anything with Anna Friel in it has got to be worth watching.
